If India has to achieve a sustained growth rate of 8-9% , it needs the combined power of its people , particularly the emerging generation who need to be moulded and stimulated to unleash their potential. A school is not just an institution with four walls. It is a living organism, alive breathing and bustling with energy. Within its stimulating environment thousands of young souls aspire to develop their creative minds, academic abilities and physical prowess..

For whom?

Schooling enables individuals to acquire the skills knowledge, values and the attitude necessary to become responsible citizens of the nation.  Schools of today require people who are knowledgeable and qualified together with practical experience, to develop the high standard needed to maintain that competitive edge as well as to ensure maximum development of the child. Logically if school education has to be benchmarked to international standards what matters is the quality of TEACHERS.

The need?

Schools are increasing in numbers across the country and existing schools are expanding to their respective peak levels. In spite of getting hundreds of applications every year, all schools, have the same refrain – “We are not getting good teachers.” A large percentage of them are NOT EMPLOYABLE, in spite of their eligibility and qualifications.

Schools are searching for teachers who have communication skills in English, and who are confident, competent & committed to the profession..

In a globalised economy and a highly competitive world, expectations from students, parents and schools are increasing. Mere pedagogic knowledge is no longer adequate.

Fresh teachers need a total makeover to face the challenges ahead !

Project Sparkle has been initiated to empower a new generation of teachers-to transform a fresh, inexperienced, graduate teacher into a confident teacher with a sparkling attitude.

FEDERAL BANK takes the lead to empower a new generation of teachers.

The Federal Bank as a part of its CSR initiative, sponsors the first batch of teachers from the economically weaker sections for Project Sparkle.

PROJECT SPARKLE is an initiative of the SB Global Educational Trust. The SB Global Educational Trust was formed to meet the educational and employment aspirations of the economically and socially weaker sections of the community. Since a majority of school teachers are women and a large percentage from middle to lower middle class to economically weaker segments of the society, they may not have had the exposure to develop the required skills in them.

OBJECTIVE:

•           To transform their personae, boost their self confidence and make them EMPLOYABLE in any school, irrespective of the curriculum.

•           To enrich the competency of teachers with better improved teaching skills.

•           To develop a cadre of teachers who are ethical, creative, child centered, child friendly, competent, dedicated and with a passion for excellence in their profession.

•           To ensure that teaching and learning becomes an enjoyable process.

This project is apolitical and secular

The SBG Educational Trust has subsidised the cost of the 45 day holistic and intensive finishing program for the teachers.

ELIGIBILITY : Open to all fresh B Ed graduates across Kerala.

The criteria for final selection of each batch would be based on:

a.         Economic background

b.         Good Academic track record

c.         Aptitude

d.         Genuine desire and passion to be a teacher

e.         Need for a job

•           Medium of instruction is English. This programme is designed for teachers aspiring to work in English medium schools, irrespective of the curriculum.

The duration for the program is 45 days. The course fee is inclusive of training fees, course materials, Tea and snacks, project works, field trips and a set of Uniform saris

Batch size: 25

Location of programme : Initially at Kochi. Will gradually be extended to KANNUR, CALICUT, TRICHUR, KOTTAYAM and TRIVANDRUM. Applicants will be given the option of joining a batch at a location closest to them.

ADVANTAGE TO SCHOOLS : This finishing programme would result in the creation of a talent pool of  teachers at different locations across Kerala. Schools will find it easy to hire teachers from this pool as it guarantees a certain quality in them.

THE CORE TEAM : Leading the core team of experienced trainers is R Balachandran, the Managing Trustee of the S B Global Educational Trust.  A professional with experience in India and abroad and with a passion for school education, he is also the Chairman & Managing Director of S B Global.  Experts ranging from Principals, educationalists, psychologists counselors and other specialists will be invited to share their experiences and expectations.
