The need :
If India has to achieve a sustained growth rate of 9%, it needs the combined power of its people, particularly, the emerging generation who need to be moulded and stimulated to unleash their potential. This process starts with the foundation laid at the school level. Hence, the quality of a Teacher becomes extremely critical.
Regretfully, the quality and calibre of the emerging fresh B Ed graduates is a cause of great concern to everyone today. Almost every school has the same refrain- ”We are not getting good teachers!”
Why this project?
Schools are increasing in number across the country and existing schools are expanding to their respective peak levels. There is an increasing need for ‘quality’ teachers.
While there are a number of students who graduate from the numerous B Ed colleges every year, there is a great concern on the overall impact of these fresh graduate teachers entering the profession . Expectations are high from students, parents and schools. Mere pedagogic knowledge is no longer adequate. Fresh teachers need a total makeover to face the challenges ahead.

Who ?
The project is an initiative by the SB GLOBAL EDUCATIONAL TRUST has been conceived and created by S B GLOBAL , Kochi. The core competency of SB GLOBAL is in training. Realising the need for urgent action in this critical area, SB Global has taken the initiative to design and develop this unique and exclusive “ Finishing School Program” for fresh B.Ed. graduates to transform their personae and boost their self confidence
Leading the core team of experienced trainers is R. Balachandran, the Managing Trustee, a professional with experience in India and abroad. He has the commitment and passion to spearhead the initiative to upgrade the quality of the new generation of teachers. He was the main catalyst in setting up The Choice School in Tripunithura, now considered to be one of the best K-12 schools in Kerala.

Participate:
As a part of the CSR of the company, the programme is operated through the SB Global Educational Trust and is offered at a highly subsidised fee. As the objective of this initiative is to mould, develop and transfer as many new teachers as possible, The SB GLOBAL EDUCATION TRUST invites you be a part of this initiative and extend your SPONSORSHIP to one or more, fresh B Ed GRADUATES, for this unique programme.
The Programme:
The new teachers would be put through an intensive FINISHING PROGRAMME that would enhance their skills to make them EMPLOYABLE in any school, irrespective of the curriculum . Schools will be invited for campus interviews on the completion of the course.
Eligibility and Selection process:
In case, you as the sponsor, have a candidate or a group of candidates you would like to support, you are welcome to refer them with a covering letter and supporting documents.
Alternatively, the Principals of the respective B Ed colleges across Kerala would be requested a make a selection from their B Ed students and refer them, officially.
The criteria for selection would be based on:
a. Economically weaker background
b. Good Academic track record
c. Aptitude
d. Genuine desire and passion to be a teacher
e. Need for a job
Evaluation and Assessment:
The recommended candidates would undergo a detailed evaluation and screening process before the final selection is made.
The Programme:
30 days of intensive training at Kochi covering topics like:
(Duration could increase to 45 days subject to the initial evaluation and assessment of the teachers)

The sponsorship fee:
Rs. 15000/ or USD 300/ per head- includes Training fees (50% of the actual training costs has been borne by SB Global) Resource materials, School visits, Accommodation, Food and a set of professional attire.
Location – Kochi - The programme has been made residential to ensure that there is good bonding and opportunities for group activities before and after the formal sessions , to help them develop their confidence, inter personal and team building skills .
Placements:
Schools will be invited for placement interviews. For outstation students, schools from their respective locations would be contacted and informed. However, the teachers would be advised to be open to working anywhere in India/Abroad.
Batch size is restricted to 25 per batch.
Commencement of first batch – February 2010. Batches are scheduled to start every alternate month.
